Amongst the treasures in my studio is a collection of antique, handmade papers, old (18th & 19th c., some earlier), foxed, watermarked, several with notations and hand written page numbers, from years gone by, sheets housed in folios, now residing in my flat files along with early 20th c. examples. Some have been used in a few of my intaglio prints with chine-collé, marrying old with new, that too, yields to time, becoming something from another era. Here, for your enjoyment, are several digital representations of a dozen sheets, some scanned, others from the copy stand, some backlit, in an attempt to show the laid and chain lines, watermarks, and occasionally, the tears of the papermaker.
